Actor-turned-politician and TVK chief Vijay is gearing up to file his nomination for the Tiruchirappalli (East) assembly constituency, intensifying the electoral contest in central Tamil Nadu. Vijay is vying for two seats in the April 23 Assembly elections, the other being Perambur in Chennai.
TVK officials disclosed that Vijay will submit his nomination to Returning Officer Muthu Murugesa Pandiyan at Trichy Corporation's Ariyamangalam Zonal Office on April 2. Post-nomination, Vijay plans to launch his campaign in the city, according to Aadhav Arjuna, TVK's General Secretary of Election Campaign Management.
However, Arjuna raised concerns about alleged police restrictions hindering Vijay's campaign. He accused the ruling DMK of using police machinery to obstruct the TVK chief's progress, setting a challenging electoral landscape against DMK's MLA, Inigo Iruthayaraj, and AIADMK’s G Rajasekaran.
