Maharashtra NCP chief Sunil Tatkare has acknowledged that discussions were held regarding a potential merger between the two fragmented factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). His revelation comes just weeks after initial denials from the Sharad Pawar-led NCP regarding conversations on the possible reunification.
Despite previous dismissals by NCP leaders, confirming such deliberations took place suggests a shifting dynamic within the party, primarily after the January 28 plane crash that claimed the life of Ajit Pawar. Tatkare expressed discontent over the merger talks being publicized during this mourning period.
While Tatkare maintains his stance aligning NCP with the BJP-led NDA, internal conflicts persist as NCP (SP) leader Shashikant Shinde highlighted contradictions in earlier statements. The party's future remains uncertain as these dialogues linger, with some leaders advocating for cohesion under a single banner.
