Maharashtra Nationalist Congress Party president Sunil Tatkare has confirmed his awareness of the merger discussions between his party and Sharad Pawar's NCP (SP). He emphasized that he does not oppose the merger, even as the NCP grieves over the unexpected death of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Seeking clarity on the situation, Tatkare questioned, 'Who will merge with whom?' as leaders from both factions continue to express their views amid uncertainty. Notably, the NCP plans to uphold its alliance with the BJP-led NDA as affirmed by Tatkare.
Following Ajit Pawar's death on January 28, whispers of a potential merger surfaced from NCP (SP) leaders. Yet, these claims were dismissed by the NCP itself. Amidst this backdrop, Sunil Shelke and deputy speaker of the legislative assembly, Anna Bansode, have expressed their backing for the proposed merger.
