In Maharashtra, anganwadi workers are currently enduring severe financial strain due to the lack of disbursement of central funds, according to NCP (SP) MLA Jayant Patil. Patil asserts that these workers have not received their due honorarium for the past three months.
The Central government contributes a significant portion of their monthly pay, crucial for their sustenance. With this share withheld, around 1.5 lakh workers are affected, causing a ripple effect on child development programs and women's health initiatives.
Patil criticizes the government for what he says is a glaring example of administrative inefficiency, pointing to other stalled developments under centrally sponsored schemes.
