The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its second slate of candidates on Monday for the upcoming assembly elections in Kerala, heightening the suspense in this high-stakes political race. Notably, K Ranjith will face off against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the Dharmadam constituency.
Former Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan was announced as BJP's pick for the Aranmula seat. Other key candidates include Ashwini ML for Kasaragod, PR Sivasankar for Ernakulam, Vathsala Prasanna Kumar for Paravur, and Renu Suresh for Kongad.
Previously, BJP's first list on March 19 featured prominent figures like the party's state president, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, and former Union Minister V Muraleedharan. Concurrently, Chief Minister Vijayan formalized his candidacy from Dharmadam. The elections, scheduled for April 9, will set the stage for fierce competition as parties vie for control of the 140-member Kerala Assembly.
