DMK and CPI Forge Strategic Alliance for Tamil Nadu Elections

In a decisive move, the ruling DMK has granted five assembly seats to its ally, the Communist Party of India (CPI), for the forthcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. This announcement follows multiple negotiation rounds between the two parties.

At the Anna Arivalayam party headquarters, CPI's state secretary, M Veerapandiyan, explained that the party agreed to contest fewer seats due to new alliances forming within the DMK. The aim is to present a united front against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its affiliates.

During the discussions, DMK leader MK Stalin emphasized the importance of cooperation. Previously, the CPI contested six seats, securing victories in two. The assembly elections are scheduled for April 23, setting the stage for a pivotal political contest in the region.
