Political Turmoil Strikes as TMC Stalwart Resigns in Ticket Dispute

Discontent has flared within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) as Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy resigned from his position in the Jalpaiguri district party post. Roy's resignation came following his denial of a party ticket for the upcoming West Bengal assembly polls.

Roy, a three-time MLA in Jalpaiguri and a long-time TMC organizer in north Bengal, predicted a tough battle for the party, whose ticket has gone to Asian Games gold medallist Swapna Barman. Roy conveyed that financial influences may have steered the candidate selection process.

Expressing frustration, Roy accused the party of injustice after years of service. In contrast, Barman, who has transitioned from sports to politics, was inducted into the TMC in February. Despite his resignation, Roy remains undecided on joining another party, pending party leadership's resolution.
