As tensions in West Asia mount, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is actively advocating for the Indian government to spearhead efforts in calling for an immediate cessation to the ongoing hostilities. In a conversation with ANI, Tharoor highlighted the lack of tangible benefits for either side involved in the conflict, warning of the broader implications for global supply chains, especially oil and gas.
Tharoor articulated his stance, stating, "I've been calling for the government to demand an end to this conflict. Both Americans and Iranians have largely achieved their goals, making its continuation detrimental to global welfare." He pointed out disruptions to essential supply channels as evidence of the conflict's far-reaching impact.
Amid the turmoil, Iran's representative in India reassured that Indian vessels would navigate the critical Strait of Hormuz, despite the ongoing conflict. Meanwhile, Indian LPG carriers have successfully traversed the strait, ensuring the continuation of vital energy supplies to India.
