Morbi's Ceramic Industry Halts Amid West Asia Conflict

The ceramic industry in Gujarat's Morbi, a major hub for ceramic tiles, has suspended operations in around 430 units due to a disrupted gas supply amid West Asia's conflict. The halt is expected to last for 20 to 25 days until gas supplies are restored and maintenance is conducted.

Morbi's Ceramic Industry Halts Amid West Asia Conflict

In the wake of escalating tensions in West Asia, Gujarat's Morbi ceramic industry faces an unprecedented shutdown.

On Tuesday, the Morbi Ceramic Manufacturing Association announced that 430 of its units will not be operational for the next three weeks. This decision stems from the disrupted supply of gas crucial for the manufacturing process, affected by the ongoing conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran.

Morbi, known as the world's second-largest ceramic tile production hub, sees approximately 450 out of its 670 factories already inactive. The impact of the gas shortage is profound, with industry leaders pausing operations for maintenance and awaiting conflict resolution for gas resumption.
