The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has revealed a roster of 25 candidates for the forthcoming assembly elections in Kerala, scheduled for April 9. The list, presented by IUML supremo Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal and leading party figures, includes established and fresh contenders.
Significantly, senior MLA and former state minister M K Muneer's name is not on the list. There is a strong representation of youth and gender diversity, as the list features two women. Thangal hinted at a strategic decision underway concerning the candidacy for the seats of Chelakkara and either Punalur or Chadayamangalam.
The lineup showcases familiar faces such as P K Kunhalikutty and N Samsudheen, along with newcomers like P K Navaz and Jayanthi Rajan. The IUML emphasizes its commitment to integrating new energy into its electoral strategy, while veteran P M A Salam has opted out of the electoral fray.
