Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar criticized the Maharashtra government over its farm loan waiver terms, calling them a betrayal of farmers. He spoke during a budget discussion, pointing out that three farmers reportedly die by suicide every day in the state.
Wadettiwar questioned the scheme's September 30, 2025, cut-off date, arguing it would exclude many farmers. He also demanded further clarity on how farmers with loans above Rs 2 lakh would benefit, and raised concerns over unfulfilled promises regarding farmers' land records.
Further criticizing authorities, he highlighted a lack of central financial aid post heavy rains and alleged corruption in irrigation schemes. The security situation was also under scrutiny, with issues raised about police operations and counterfeit currency seizures.
