In a significant blow to the Communist Party of India (Marxist), seasoned political leader G Sudhakaran declared on Thursday that he is severing all ties with the party. Announcing his candidature as an independent from Ambalappuzha, Sudhakaran made clear his intentions ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

The controversy surrounding Sudhakaran stems from allegations of personal attacks by party cadres on social media, which he cited as a reason for not renewing his party membership. Sudhakaran emphasized his independence, denying any allegiance to the United Democratic Front (UDF) and stating he will not partake in conventional election campaigns like wall paintings.

Despite his exit from the organizational wing of the CPI(M), Sudhakaran reaffirmed his commitment to the party's ideology while distancing himself from its current leadership. Stressing the absence of anti-incumbency sentiments, he asserted his focus would be on addressing corruption, dismissing rumors of support from any major political factions.
