Veteran Gujarat Politician Govind Parmar Passes Away

Govind Parmar, a highly respected politician and current MLA for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat's Umreth constituency, has died following a brief illness. He was 72. Parmar, who served four terms in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, had been under medical care in Anand district.
Expressing his condolences on social media platform X, Gujarat BJP president Jagdish Vishwakarma called Parmar a 'popular MLA' and wished his soul peace while offering strength to his family during this challenging time. Parmar’s political journey began 30 years ago, crossing paths with multiple parties before aligning with the BJP.
Beginning his legislative career as an independent winner from Sarsa, Parmar later secured a victory as a Congress member in 1998. After a period of electoral setbacks and a party change, he won back his seat in 2017 and again in 2022 as a BJP candidate following the constituency's transformation into Umreth.
