West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has leveled serious accusations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming they are conspiring to remove over 1 crore names from the state's voter list in a bid to control the upcoming assembly elections.
In an interview with News18 Bangla, Banerjee alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is pressuring senior officials to fulfill this agenda, suggesting a targeted attempt to disenfranchise minorities, women, and various communities. She criticized Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar for disproportionately omitting voters, particularly from marginalized groups.
Banerjee remains defiant, asserting that this is a political battle and promising fierce resistance. She described the BJP's tactics, including the enactment of CAA and NRC, as divisive tools aimed at fragmenting Bengal's unity. With elections on the horizon, the Chief Minister expressed confidence in her party's return to power.
