Judge Dismisses Terror Liability Suit Against Binance
A U.S. federal judge dismissed a lawsuit against Binance and its founder Changpeng Zhao, which accused them of being liable for facilitating terrorist attacks globally. The judge stated that the plaintiffs did not plausibly allege that Binance had culpably participated in any of the attacks, citing a lack of direct association.
A federal judge in Manhattan has dismissed a civil lawsuit aimed at holding Binance, the world's leading cryptocurrency exchange, and its founder Changpeng Zhao liable for transactions allegedly aiding terrorist attacks globally.
The lawsuit involved 535 plaintiffs, including victims and their families, who claimed Binance facilitated funds for groups like Hezbollah and Islamic State. However, U.S. District Judge Jeannette Vargas ruled that the allegations lacked sufficient evidence of direct involvement.
The dismissal follows Binance's prior criminal penalty over regulatory violations. Binance expressed satisfaction with the ruling, reiterating its commitment to compliance and denouncement of terrorism on its platform.
