West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission on Tuesday, accusing it of meddling in state affairs and exerting pressure on officials. Banerjee, who labeled the commission as a 'Tughlaki commission,' pledged a 'befitting reply' to any efforts perceived as threats to democracy.

During a press conference, Banerjee expressed concerns over the commission's alleged overreach and asserted, 'The ECI is interfering in every state matter. If you cross the boundary, then the people will reply with a sixer.' She further accused the commission of harassing everyday citizens and suggested that the BJP-led central government might not sustain its power beyond 2026.

As politics in Bengal intensifies ahead of the assembly polls, Banerjee made it clear she is prepared to face any repercussions, stating, 'I am ready to go to jail. We have all the evidence with us, will expose everyone.' Her comments come as the Trinamool Congress prepares to confront the Bharatiya Janata Party in a heated political climate.
