Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron met on Tuesday to discuss strengthening bilateral relations in strategic areas, including trade, defence, energy, and technology. Macron arrived in Mumbai to embark on a three-day visit, highlighting the significance of AI Impact Summit with a subsequent meeting planned with Modi.

In a landmark decision, India recently sanctioned a long-awaited proposal to acquire 114 Rafale fighter jets under a direct government-to-government agreement with France, marking one of the largest military procurement initiatives globally in recent years. This visit emphasizes bolstering defence collaborations and enhancing the engagement in technological sectors as focal points for both nations.

''Welcome to India! We eagerly anticipate your visit to elevate our bilateral ties to new heights. Our discussions will undoubtedly fortify cooperation across sectors and contribute to global progress,'' Modi expressed on social media, reflecting a warm greeting to Macron's arrival.
