During a critical meeting with the Election Commission on Tuesday, national and state political parties in Assam called for assembly elections to be conducted in either a single or a maximum of two phases.
Tasked with assessing election readiness, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alongside fellow Election Commissioners and Assam's Chief Electoral Officer, conducted discussions with key political entities.
Most parties emphasized the need to align the election schedule with the Bihu festival, and they were appreciative of the updated electoral rolls. The Commission seeks further insight from state officials before concluding their visit.
