Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has openly challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the implications of the recent India-US interim trade deal. In a significant political move, Siddaramaiah criticized the government for using farmers as "bargaining chips," declaring them the "lifeline of the nation."
His comments came in the wake of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's concerns, which have fueled the opposition's critique of the ruling party's trade strategies. Siddaramaiah, taking to social media platform 'X', posed pressing questions about the deal's impact on Indian farmers, particularly concerning the dairy sector and the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system.
The Chief Minister warned that if the deal results in unchecked GMO imports or weakens existing agricultural protections, it could harm farmers nationwide. He implored Modi not to prioritize political gains or yield to foreign influences, reinforcing his message that Indian farmers should not be compromised.
