Dominating the pitch, defending champions India outplayed Pakistan with a 61-run victory in the Group A match of the Twenty20 World Cup, securing their place in the Super Eight stage. The match, held at the R Premadasa Stadium, saw India amass 175-7, largely thanks to the striking 77 by Ishan Kishan.
The game witnessed a nail-biting scenario as Pakistan, reversing an earlier boycott decision, failed to chase India's target, collapsing for 114 runs in just 18 overs. Despite deploying a spin-heavy strategy, Pakistan couldn't restrain India's aggressive batting.
India's ace, Abhishek Sharma, returned but couldn't capitalize, being dismissed by Pakistan's Salman who opened the attack. In a surprising move, Pakistan used six spinners, a first in T20 World Cup history, but ultimately, it was not enough to halt India's winning streak.
