In Kerala, senior Congress leaders gathered to advance their election preparations, buoyed by recent success in civic polls. Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee President Sunny Joseph addressed the media, stating that candidacy deliberations are underway, with key decisions awaiting ratification by the central committee.
Joseph announced the party is evaluating potential candidates, including current MPs and MLAs, for the Assembly elections. He mentioned past Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil's current non-affiliation with the party and noted that Tripunithura MLA K Babu would not contest again, necessitating new candidate considerations.
The finalized list of candidates will emerge post consultations with state and UDF allies. AICC leader K C Venugopal affirmed a structured schedule for candidate announcements. In parallel, CMP leader C P John projected their demand for two UDF bloc seats, emphasizing ongoing party dialogues for selection in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode districts.
