In West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the BJP of inciting fear and division over the National Register of Citizens (NRC) following the suicide of a man near Kolkata. The deceased, Pradeep Kar, allegedly blamed the NRC in a note, stating it caused him severe stress.
Banerjee condemned the BJP's actions, which she claims have turned constitutional democracy into a "theater of fear." She called the death a tragic result of the party's "venomous propaganda," and reiterated her commitment to protecting Bengal from the NRC.
In response, BJP's Amit Malviya demanded a full investigation and accused Banerjee of spreading lies for political gain. He insisted there is no NRC in place and blamed TMC for exploiting the populace's fears, emphasizing that truth and accountability should prevail.
