Madagascar's New Cabinet: A Step in Political Transition
Madagascar's military-led government, which seized power in a coup, has appointed a mostly civilian cabinet. This marks a pivotal moment in the nation's political shift, aiming to address economic challenges and political discord while leading the country through a transitional period until elections.
Madagascar's newly installed military-led government has announced a cabinet comprising mainly civilian ministers. This move follows a military coup that ousted the former president, Andry Rajoelina, amid widespread protests.
Colonel Michael Randrianirina, now interim president, has declared the formation of a transitional government expected to remain in place alongside a military committee for up to two years, guiding the nation towards new elections.
The newly formed cabinet faces the challenge of mitigating longstanding issues such as power and water shortages, which contributed to the unrest against Rajoelina's administration.
