The Congress has expressed strong opposition to a recent government decision involving retiring Agniveers. According to a home ministry notification, these ex-servicemen may be absorbed into the nation's top 10 private security agencies, instead of receiving promised pensionable government jobs.
Chairman of Congress's ex-servicemen department, Colonel (retired) Rohit Chaudhry, voiced dissatisfaction, stating that if soldiers were not encouraged for their service during Operation Sindoor, they should at least not be misled. He criticized the administration for prioritizing corporate interests over soldiers' welfare.
The Congress demands clarity on when and how pensionable jobs will be provided to Agniveers, stressing that the current arrangement is detrimental to both national security and youth employment. The party continues its 'Jai Jawan' campaign to address these concerns.
