Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reiterated his commitment to seeing through his tenure unless directed otherwise by the Congress high command. Speaking in Mangaluru, Siddaramaiah confirmed his focus on fulfilling his full term but acknowledged that any decision on a cabinet reshuffle lies in the hands of the party's top leadership.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara dismissed speculation around leadership changes as inconsequential, emphasizing that the Congress high command will have the last word. He noted that any developments might emerge following the Bihar election results, after which Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar are expected to engage with the central leadership in Delhi.
The leadership succession debate arose once more after MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of the Chief Minister, suggested Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi as his father’s potential successor. Although Yathindra later clarified his statement, he pointed to Jarkiholi’s alignment with the ideological values held by Siddaramaiah and the broader secular Congress agenda. Yathindra confirmed his father's retirement from electoral politics by 2028 and urged Jarkiholi to helm the state's polity moving forward.
