Chaos in Karnataka Cricket: Call for Overdue Elections Intensifies
Venkatesh Prasad and other cricket figures call for immediate elections in Karnataka State Cricket Association. The KSCA has been in disarray since the regime's end in September, impacting cricket operations and losing credibility in cricket circles due to misinterpretation of by-laws.
Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad has urged the current administrators of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to conduct overdue elections. Alongside administrator Vinay Mruthyunjaya and ex-women's team captain Shanta Rangaswamy, Prasad highlights the association's chaos due to stalled election proceedings.
The term of the current committee, led by BCCI treasurer Raghuram Bhatt, concluded in September. With resignation from several key board members, there's an urgent need to announce election dates. Mismanagement has affected the association's reputation, even losing Women's World Cup matches.
The board's ambiguity over the nine-year eligibility clause is another issue. Misinterpreting bylaws to disqualify candidates, they overlook a Supreme Court ruling that broadens eligibility beyond nine years for state organizations. This disregard for corrective measures raises questions about leadership intentions.
