Telangana Responds: Ex-Gratia Announced for Kurnool Bus Tragedy Victims

In the wake of the tragic bus fire that claimed several lives in Kurnool, the Telangana government has pledged significant financial aid to the affected families. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar Goud announced ex-gratia payments of Rs 5 lakh per deceased family and Rs 2 lakh for those injured, as per Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's directives.
Minister Goud stressed the importance of safety regulations, instructing the authorities to seize buses that do not comply with safety standards. "There will be no compromise on the safety and lives of our citizens," he declared. AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi expressed his condolences and wished for the recovery of those injured.
The bus, en route from Hyderabad to Bengaluru, caught fire after colliding with a bike on NH 44. Of the 41 passengers, 11 have perished, and 21 suffered minor injuries. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the missing bodies, and the incident has prompted increased legislative cooperation across the southern states.
