Nepal's First Woman PM Vows Free and Fair Elections Amidst Gen Z Pressure

Nepal's Prime Minister, Sushila Karki, confirmed her administration's dedication to conducting the general elections scheduled for March 5 in a transparent and fair manner. Speaking at an event in Madhyapur Thimi, Bhaktapur, she assured citizens of their right to vote without intimidation, stressing the importance of democracy and citizens' rights.
Her comments came after a significant meeting with leaders of major political parties to discuss election preparations and security. The meeting, which included discussions with Gen Z movement representatives, aimed to establish a cooperative atmosphere conducive to the elections. The interim government, formed after youth-led protests, underscores a commitment to lawful governance and anti-corruption.
Key political figures, government officials, and representatives from various parties were present to support the election process. Jagdish Kharel, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, reported productive dialogue, highlighting the government's transparency efforts and dedication to conducting the elections as planned.
