A Delhi court has mandated police action against commentator Abhijit Iyer Mitra after he allegedly made abusive remarks towards nine women journalists from the news website, Newslaundry. The court's order follows a petition filed by journalist Manisha Pande, representing the affected journalists.

On April 22, Judicial Magistrate Bhanu Pratap Singh highlighted the need for a police investigation, focusing on verifying the social media account from which the derogatory tweets originated. A tweet dated April 28, 2025, was among the examples of posts deemed offensive.

The court found these tweets to constitute sexually offensive remarks under specific legal sections, urging further investigation to recover electronic evidence. A compliance report from the Malviya Nagar police station is expected by May 4.
