Brazilian authorities have taken decisive action against 28 prediction market platforms, citing non-compliance with local betting laws. Finance Minister Dario Durigan made the announcement on Friday, emphasizing that these markets defy the regulations set forth by Congress.

Further tightening the rules, the National Monetary Council (CMN) clarified on Thursday the permissible underlying assets for derivatives trading. Key exclusions now encompass assets linked to sports events, online gaming, and political, electoral, cultural, and social outcomes.

This move is part of Brazil's broader effort to regulate the burgeoning yet controversial prediction market sector, aiming to maintain legality and integrity within the betting industry.
