In a major breakthrough against wildlife smuggling, the Odisha forest department seized 761 Indian flap shell turtles during a special operation near the Andhra Pradesh border.
The raid, conducted in Malkangiri district by personnel of the Motu range, resulted in the arrest of one of the suspects involved in the illicit trade.
Authorities impounded the vehicle used for transport and have registered a case under the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972. The crackdown highlights ongoing efforts to combat illegal wildlife trafficking in the region.
