A tragic accident occurred near Semra village on the Hata-Kaptanganj road late Wednesday night, resulting in one death and leaving another critically injured. Local police sources confirmed that the mishap took place around 11 pm when a speeding dumper collided with the victims' motorcycle.

Victims Chandrashekhar Gond, 28, and Satyendra Prasad, 25, both residents of Malukhi village, were returning home from a market trip when the soil-laden dumper, approaching from the opposite direction, hit them. Both victims sustained severe injuries and were initially rushed to Kaptanganj Community Health Centre for immediate attention.

Due to their critical condition, medical officials referred them to the Gorakhpur Medical College hospital. Tragically, Chandrashekhar succumbed to his injuries, while Satyendra remains in a serious state. The dumper driver abandoned the vehicle and fled; however, police have seized the vehicle and launched a manhunt for the driver as part of ongoing legal proceedings.
