In a groundbreaking move, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav declared that the government will boost the compensation given to farmers for land acquisition by four times the current guideline value. This decision, announced during a press conference after a cabinet meeting, marks a significant commitment to the welfare of the state's agricultural community.
Under the revised terms of land acquisition compensation, farmers in Madhya Pradesh will see the compensation factor increase from 1 to 2, ensuring they receive a fair price for their land. The policy shift aims to facilitate timely completion of infrastructure projects in sectors such as irrigation, roads, bridges, and railways, while also supporting farmers' prosperity.
The legislative change driving this initiative is the amendment of the Madhya Pradesh Bhumi Arjan, Puarwas aur Punarvyasthapan me Uchit Pratikar of Pardarshita ka Adhiniym 2013. Estimated investments of up to Rs 75,000 crore annually in infrastructure are expected to accelerate following this move, with farmers receiving compensation directly into their accounts. A cabinet committee led by Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh will oversee its implementation.
