In a bold escape from Odisha's Kalahandi district jail, an under-trial prisoner, identified as Jagannath Sabar, managed to scale a 20-foot wall, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The inmate, in custody for theft charges, fled the Bhawanipatna jail on Tuesday night, sparking a police search operation. Jail Superintendent Saroj Kumar Biswal announced an investigation into the escape method.
The incident has raised security concerns as the jail, located in a bustling area and equipped with CCTV cameras, reported similar escapes last year. Notably, 33 under-trial prisoners and 11 convicts have fled different state jails over the past five years.
