The Indian Police Foundation, an independent think tank focused on policing issues, has called for a comprehensive multi-agency investigation into the discovery of a false Mounjaro (tirzepatide) injection manufacturing operation in Gurugram. This has raised significant concerns about the proliferation of counterfeit pharmaceuticals in the region.
O P Singh, CEO of the Indian Police Foundation, reported to PTI that the organization has approached the Haryana government, offering pro bono 'institutional support' from its pool of experts. The foundation is prepared to assemble a team led by a former Indian Police Service officer to provide specialized forensic expertise for this investigation.
Authorities in Gurugram recently detained two individuals involved in the racket, which produced counterfeit medications used to treat diabetes and obesity. The Indian Police Foundation believes that prompt and coordinated action could bring those responsible to justice and act as a deterrent against such illicit activities.
