The Goa Police are escalating their investigation into right-wing speaker Gautam Khattar following derogatory remarks made against St Francis Xavier. Officials visited Khattar's residence in Dehradun, finding him absent, and are proceeding to issue a Look Out Circular to prevent any attempt to flee the country.
Khattar's April 18 remarks have sparked widespread protests in Goa, drawing condemnation from political figures, the Goa Church, and other community leaders. An FIR has been filed against Khattar by Vasco police for allegedly inciting communal discord through his controversial statements, which have been condemned by the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman and other associations.
The Association of All Goa Muslim Jamats has joined calls for strict action against Khattar, arguing that his statements disrupt Goa's communal harmony. They emphasize that freedom of expression should not be wielded as a tool to provoke religious tensions, urging for immediate corrective measures from authorities.
