A committee of presiding officers, established by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, convened on Tuesday to reassess the constitutional framework surrounding the disqualification of legislators under the anti-defection law.
The meeting in Puri, the second of its kind, was headed by Maharashtra assembly speaker Rahul Narwekar.
The deliberations aim to provide guidelines for presiding officers of state legislatures. Legal experts discussed the procedural aspects of member disqualification due to defection during this session.
