Judge Recuses from Rahul Gandhi Dual Citizenship Case, Calls for Further Review

In a development at the Allahabad High Court, Justice Subhash Vidyarthi withdrew from adjudicating a plea concerning Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's alleged dual citizenship. The judge cited procedural oversight and online misbehavior by the petitioner as reasons for his recusal.

Justice Vidyarthi underscored the requirement for notifying the accused prior to issuing legal orders, as noted in a procedural precedent. This came after he initially ordered an FIR against Gandhi that was later reconsidered pending notification.

The judge expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of adequate legal help and attributed the decision to recuse himself to social media statements from the petitioner, BJP worker S Shishir Vignesh, which he felt compromised judicial respect.
