Jannayak Janta Party leader Dushyant Chautala accused police of intercepting his convoy on Saturday, as he headed to meet the Hisar district police chief over alleged wrongful arrests linked to a protest. Chautala insists the Hisar Superintendent of Police, Siddhant Jain, should be transferred pending a full investigation.
Chautala described an encounter involving a police officer in a red shirt who allegedly threatened him with what appeared to be a weapon. The altercation, according to Chautala, had several policemen tailing his vehicle and appeared to be more than just an interception tactic.
However, police provided contradicting information, describing the event as the result of a high-speed overtaking attempt. They claimed no weapons were involved and that their officers were manhandled. A Deputy Superintendent of Police is currently investigating the incident.
