CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby has penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking immediate intervention for the distressed workers in industrial hubs across Delhi-NCR. Baby highlighted the worsening situation, with inflation and LPG shortages amplifying the difficulties of the workforce.
The letter underscores the inadequacy of current minimum wages, which range from Rs 11,314 in Uttar Pradesh to Rs 18,456 in Delhi, against the high living costs. The leader also criticized the Uttar Pradesh and Haryana governments for responding to workers' protests with police repression, instead of resolving their grievances.
Baby's demands include a uniform minimum wage of Rs 26,000 across Delhi-NCR, the release of detained workers, and the removal of restrictions on trade union activities. He also cautioned against new labor reforms that could undermine workers' rights and protections.
