The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has intensified its criticism of the Himachal Pradesh government, accusing it of a deeply entrenched nexus involving the real estate lobby, land mafias, and high-ranking officials. The party demands the dismissal of Acting Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, whom they claim is complicit in these dealings.
Addressing media representatives, CPI(M) State Secretary Sanjay Chauhan alleged Gupta of misusing his position to favor private builders and violating state land laws. He cited illegal land deals and specific illegal administrative orders, which have subsequently been retracted by the government and halted by the High Court as evidence backing the party's allegations.
CPI(M) has called for Gupta's immediate removal, pointing to his alleged disproportionate asset accumulation. The party insists on a judicial investigation. The Chief Minister's lack of decisive action on stated anti-corruption promises is under scrutiny. Protests are planned to escalate pressure on the government.
