Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have detained Mehraj Din, a well-known drug peddler, under the stringent Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act. The operation took place in Doda district, with officials confirming his detention in Udhampur district jail.
The accused, a resident of Masjid Mohalla in Bhaderwah tehsil, has been involved in multiple narcotic-related offenses, prompting the preventive action. His criminal history reveals six registered cases under the PIT-NDPS Act at various police stations.
A comprehensive detention dossier compiled by the Bhaderwah station house officer detailed Mehraj's continued illegal activities. Consequently, a detention order was issued by the Jammu divisional commissioner, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking across the district.
