British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is facing renewed demands for his resignation following revelations that his former US ambassador failed security checks but still secured the position.

The government confirmed that Peter Mandelson, dismissed by Starmer for misleading about his ties to Epstein, had not passed the necessary vetting. It emerged that foreign office officials overrode the vetting advice without Starmer's knowledge, resulting in the resignation of senior official Olly Robbins.

Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey criticized Starmer, arguing he misled both parliament and the public, a serious breach of conduct. Starmer has apologized for the appointment and plans to release documents clarifying the process while maintaining he did not mislead parliament.
