In a concerted anti-narcotics effort, Mizoram police have successfully seized heroin and methamphetamine valued at more than Rs 7 crore over the past week. The operations, conducted from April 10 to 16, resulted in the arrest of eight individuals, including four Myanmar nationals, law enforcement officials reported.

The most recent seizure took place early Thursday, when Khawzawl district police intercepted a 25-year-old Lunglei man at Neihdawn junction. He was found with 104 grams of heroin hidden in nine soap cases inside his rucksack. The contraband, estimated to be worth Rs 20.8 lakh, was confiscated along with his scooter and mobile phone.

A major success came on April 13, when Champhai district police confiscated 8 kg of methamphetamine worth Rs 6.4 crore from three individuals, two of whom were Myanmar natives. Additional operations led to the seizure of heroin along the Zokhawthar road and at checkpoints, highlighting Mizoram's relentless drug enforcement efforts.
