Low Participation in Delhi Self-Enumeration as Housing Census 2027 Kicks Off

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Delhi Cantonment areas witnessed approximately 5,000 self-enumerations by individuals until the deadline, a turnout considered low, as reported by officials.

From Thursday, Census 2027’s Housing and House Listing phase will commence, deploying around 800 enumerators for a door-to-door operation. They will canvass 560 identified house listing blocks, each comprising 180-200 homes, asking 33 government-notified questions.

The self-enumeration initiative started on April 1, involving top governmental figures, and will extend to the rest of the capital from May 1. The census exercise will take place digitally, capturing data via a specially developed mobile application, and will involve a phased approach across different administrative divisions in the city.
