In a decisive move to combat drug networks in Kashmir, Inspector General of Police V K Birdi called for intensified efforts and expedited legal actions. During a review meeting at the Police Control Room, Birdi evaluated crime across the region, stressing improvements in investigation and conviction rates.

Senior superintendents presented strategies to curb criminal activities, focusing on narcotics and terrorism cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Birdi commended the efforts of district police chiefs and urged further action to dismantle drug networks.

The meeting also reviewed ongoing initiatives like 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan' to raise awareness and prevent drug abuse. Birdi emphasized thorough security measures, highlighting the importance of transparency and accountability in safeguarding the public's rights.
