Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has accused the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government of blocking various central welfare schemes, depriving citizens of the benefits. Addressing a gathering at the BJP's handloom and weaver cell conference in Kalna, Sitharaman highlighted schemes like Ayushman Bharat and PM Kisan, which, she claims, remain unimplemented in the state due to TMC's reluctance.
Sitharaman further alleged financial misconduct within the TMC dispensation, pointing to scams involving school job allocations and the Public Distribution System. She criticized the state’s minister for diverting funds intended for free ration distribution, which has negatively affected the livelihoods of the poor.
The Minister assured that a BJP government would ensure the proper execution of central schemes. She also emphasized the challenges faced by the handloom sector, with a promise to revitalize it by defeating the Trinamool Congress in upcoming elections.
