In a significant development, Manipur's Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh on Saturday commended the Jiribam district for its pivotal role in restoring peace across communities after years of strife. The announcement came during a community interaction program at New Alipur Rongmei Naga village.
Addressing the gathering, Singh applauded the district's openness and unity, having visited Jiribam twice in recent months as various communities converged on a single platform. Singh pledged government support to internally displaced persons (IDPs) from diverse ethnic backgrounds, expressing understanding of their challenges.
He urged continued collaboration among communities, narrating past efforts toward transparent governance. During his six-hour road journey to Jiribam, over 220 km away, he was accompanied by nine BJP MLAs and state chief A Sharda Devi, emphasizing his commitment to peace-building and support for the IDPs.
