Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh announced on Saturday that a comprehensive transfer policy for medical personnel will soon be implemented to address staffing issues at Jiri district hospital, located approximately 217 km away from the capital.
During an inspection at Ningshingkhul in Jiribam district, Singh assessed the hospital's functioning and emphasized the crucial role it plays in ensuring equitable access to healthcare, particularly in emergencies. The chief minister noted a manpower shortage and reiterated the state's commitment to optimizing staffing alongside improving doctors' living quarters.
Accompanied by eight MLAs, Singh undertook a four-hour journey via NH 37 to Jiribam, alongside local officials, to review ground realities and ensure governance remains effective and people-centered.
