Union Minister Kiren Rijiju reached out to the Christian community during his Kerala visit, addressing concerns over proposed FCRA amendments. He assured that the Narendra Modi-led government would safeguard minority interests, correcting misinformation allegedly spread by Congress and Communist parties in Kerala.
Rijiju stressed the BJP's aim to amend the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act to curb illegal funding for anti-national activities, while ensuring legitimate organizations remain unharmed. He reassured that foreign funds should benefit the people ethically and claimed that minorities, including Christian missionaries, are well-cared for under the current administration.
In a social media statement, Rijiju criticized opponents for using false narratives, highlighting recently implemented initiatives by the BJP in Kerala. He underscored the need for fair elections and transparency in the utilization of foreign funds. Despite being listed on the Lok Sabha agenda, discussion of the FCRA Amendment Bill was postponed, prioritizing legislative over political motives.
